UNCASVILLE, Conn. (Interstat) — The Atlanta Dream look to continue their push atop the WNBA standings Thursday night when they visit the Connecticut Sun at Mohegan Sun Arena. Atlanta (20-12) enters with one of the league’s better records and owns a 91-75 road win over Connecticut on June 2. The Dream are coming off a 107-95 victory against Toronto on Monday, with Angel Reese contributing 20 points and 14 rebounds. The forward has been a consistent force, posting double-doubles in six of her past eight games, including 23 points and 16 rebounds against Las Vegas, 21 and 13 versus Seattle, and 22 and 12 at Dallas. Connecticut (8-23) has struggled but showed fight in a 75-72 home win over Phoenix on Friday. Aaliyah Edwards led the Sun with 14 points and eight rebounds in that game. Edwards has been a bright spot recently, though she played only five minutes against Phoenix on July 19 and finished with just a block. The Sun have lost 10 of their last 12, while the Dream have won six of their past eight. Atlanta has also been strong on the road, with victories at Dallas and Toronto during that stretch. Thursday’s game is the first of three meetings between the teams this season. They will meet again in Atlanta on Sept. 11, Sept. 12 and Sept. 13. Atlanta is a 9.5-point favorite, according to oddsmakers, with an over/under of 172.5. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 100-95 victory for the Dream. After Thursday, Connecticut hosts New York on Saturday before starting a four-game stretch away from Uncasville. Atlanta returns home to face Indiana on Sunday.
