NEW YORK (Interstat) — The Seattle Storm will try to end a nine-game losing streak Wednesday night when they face the New York Liberty in a WNBA game at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Seattle (6-26) has not won since beating Los Angeles 82-64 on July 6. The Storm have lost nine straight since, including Monday’s 95-83 loss to these same Liberty. Guard Flau’jae Johnson has been a bright spot, scoring at least 16 points in six of her last seven games. She had 25 points, three rebounds and three assists against New York on Monday, and she also scored 26 points July 20 at Minnesota. Dominique Malonga and Natisha Hiedeman each added 17 points for Seattle in Monday’s loss. New York (18-13) enters with a two-game winning streak and has won five of its past six. The Liberty also have scored at least 94 points in six straight games. Forward Breanna Stewart led New York on Monday with 24 points, eight rebounds and six assists. She has three double-doubles in her past six games, including a 33-point, 13-rebound, eight-assist performance July 20 at Dallas. Jonquel Jones added 20 points and seven rebounds against Seattle, and Sabrina Ionescu chipped in 18. Monday’s victory evened the season series at one game apiece. Seattle won the first meeting 99-88 on June 25. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 93-86 Liberty victory. New York is installed as a 9.5-point favorite, with the over-under at 181.5. Seattle next plays Saturday at Portland, then returns home to face Chicago on Aug. 10. New York hosts Las Vegas on Sunday before traveling to Indiana on Aug. 11.
