ATLANTA (Interstat) — The Las Vegas Aces visit the Atlanta Dream on Monday, Aug. 3, at State Farm Arena in a matchup of two of the WNBA’s top teams. Las Vegas (20-9) brings a high-powered offense led by A’ja Wilson, who has scored at least 20 points in each of her last eight games. Wilson posted 36 points and 12 rebounds in an 83-84 loss to Chicago on Saturday, following a 33-point, 10-rebound effort against New York. She also had 28 points and 14 rebounds against Portland on July 28, giving the Aces one of the league’s most consistent interior threats. Atlanta (18-10) counters with Angel Reese, who has been dominant on the glass. Reese recorded 21 points and 13 rebounds in Atlanta’s 98-89 win over Seattle on Friday and has five double-doubles in her last six games. She had 22 points and 12 rebounds in a win at Dallas on July 29, and 23 points and 13 rebounds against Los Angeles on July 13. The Dream have won four straight and seven of their last nine. These teams met May 17, with Las Vegas escaping Atlanta with an 85-84 victory. Monday’s rematch could be similarly close. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 96-87 Atlanta win, but Las Vegas is a 1.5-point favorite. The over/under is 182.5. In Las Vegas’s most recent game, Jackie Young added 18 points and 11 rebounds, while NaLyssa Smith scored 17 points. Atlanta got 18 points from Naz Hillmon and 10 assists from Jordin Canada in its victory over Seattle. Both teams face important stretches ahead. Las Vegas travels to Indiana on Thursday, while Atlanta hosts Phoenix on Wednesday. First, Monday offers the Dream a chance to avenge their earlier one-point defeat and the Aces an opportunity to tighten their hold near the top of the standings.
