LAS VEGAS (Interstat) — The New York Liberty look to extend their winning streak to four games when they face the Phoenix Mercury on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Michelob Ultra Arena in a neutral-site WNBA matchup. New York (16-12) enters the contest riding a three-game run after a 113-109 victory over the Los Angeles Sparks on Tuesday. Breanna Stewart has been the catalyst for the Liberty, averaging 26.5 points, 8.1 rebounds and 4.6 assists over her last eight appearances. The forward posted 29 points on 8-of-17 shooting, four rebounds, seven assists and three blocks against the Sparks and has scored at least 20 points in seven consecutive games. Phoenix (11-18) snapped a six-game losing streak Wednesday with a 91-89 win over the Golden State Valkyries. The Mercury have struggled for consistency but feature one of the league’s most versatile players in Alyssa Thomas. The forward recorded 25 points, nine rebounds, eight assists and one block against Golden State and has logged a triple-double in two of her last four outings, including a 19-point, 11-rebound, 15-assist performance July 22 against Los Angeles. The teams have met twice this season, with New York winning both matchups. The Liberty defeated the Mercury 84-74 on May 27 in New York and again 75-68 on May 29. Stewart’s production has been central to New York’s recent surge. She scored 33 points with 13 rebounds and eight assists in a 99-98 overtime win at Dallas on July 20, and added 20 points and nine rebounds in a 95-94 victory over Chicago on July 22. The Liberty have won six of their past 10 games. Phoenix has relied heavily on Thomas, who also contributed 17 points, eight rebounds and six assists in a 83-96 loss to Connecticut on July 17. Kahleah Copper added 27 points in the win over Golden State, while DeWanna Bonner posted 17 points and 10 rebounds. The Mercury have lost seven of their last 10. New York has held opponents to 97.8 points per game over its winning streak while averaging 102.3 on offense. Phoenix has allowed 90.3 points per game in its past three contests after surrendering an average of 101.6 over the previous six. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. Pacific.
