ROSEMONT, Ill. (Interstat) — The Las Vegas Aces, owners of the second-best record in the WNBA, will look to extend their recent hot streak when they visit the Chicago Sky on Saturday at Allstate Arena. Las Vegas (19-8) enters the 7 p.m. CDT contest on a two-game winning streak, most recently defeating Portland 98-83 on Tuesday. The Aces have won three of their last four games and sit comfortably in the playoff picture. Chicago (9-18), meanwhile, has lost four of its last five and is mired near the bottom of the standings. The game features a marquee individual matchup between two of the league’s most productive players of late: Aces forward A’ja Wilson and Sky guard Sydney Taylor. Wilson, the two-time league MVP, has been dominant throughout July. In her last six games, she has recorded five double-doubles and is averaging 27.5 points and 10.7 rebounds per contest. In Tuesday’s win over Portland, Wilson logged 30 minutes and posted 28 points, 14 rebounds and four assists. She also scored 38 points in a one-point loss at Washington on July 22 and tallied 32 points and 10 rebounds in a win at Portland on July 9. Taylor has emerged as Chicago’s primary scoring threat. Over her last eight games, she is averaging 20.3 points. She scored a season-high 31 points on 26 minutes in a one-point loss at New York on July 22. Taylor also contributed 18 points against Atlanta on July 19 and 19 points in a win over Los Angeles on July 17. However, in the Sky’s most recent meeting with Las Vegas on July 3, Taylor was held to six points in a 98-90 overtime loss. The Aces have taken both matchups against the Sky this season. Las Vegas won 107-99 in Chicago on June 28 and prevailed in overtime at home on July 3. The Aces have won four of the last five meetings overall. Despite the disparity in records, Interstat’s game simulator projects a narrow 95-92 victory for the Sky, suggesting a competitive contest. The Aces will look to improve to 9-5 on the road, while the Sky aim for their fifth home win of the season against a team that has beaten them twice already. Following Saturday’s game, Las Vegas travels to Atlanta on Monday for a four-game road trip. Chicago hosts Phoenix on Monday.
