WNBA: Storm at Dream Preview ATLANTA (Interstat) — Two teams heading in opposite directions meet Friday night when the Seattle Storm visit the Atlanta Dream at State Farm Arena. Seattle (6-24) owns the worst record in the league, having lost 11 of its past 12 games. Atlanta (16-10) sits comfortably in playoff position and has won three of its last four contests. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. EDT. The Dream aim to continue their recent dominance over the Storm. Atlanta has won the past two head-to-head meetings, including an 89-78 home victory July 9. Seattle’s lone win in the season series came June 27 in Seattle, 105-90. Atlanta guard Allisha Gray has been the catalyst. In the July 9 win over Seattle, Gray posted 22 points, three rebounds, five assists and one block in 32 minutes. She followed that with a 29-point, six-rebound, three-assist performance July 19 against Chicago. Over her last six games, Gray has scored at least 17 points each time, averaging 21.3 points on 48.7% shooting. Seattle’s offense revolves around guard Natisha Hiedeman, who has been productive despite the team’s struggles. Hiedeman scored a season-high 33 points on July 28 against Indiana, adding six rebounds and four assists in 35 minutes. She also tallied 31 points on July 12 at Washington and recorded a 20-point, five-rebound, three-assist outing in the July 9 loss to Atlanta. Hiedeman has reached double figures in nine of her past 10 games. The Storm are coming off a 105-95 loss to the Fever on Tuesday, in which Hiedeman led all scorers with 33 points. Flau’jae Johnson added 16 points, and Awa Fam contributed 11 points and five rebounds. Atlanta last played July 19, defeating Chicago 93-91. Gray starred with 29 points, while Jordin Canada had 10 points and nine assists and Rhyne Howard finished with 11 points, six rebounds and six assists. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 96-88 victory for the Dream. Seattle will need to tighten its defense after allowing 105 points to Indiana. The Storm rank near the bottom of the league in defensive efficiency, while Atlanta’s offense, led by Gray and Howard, has been clicking. The Dream also benefit from home-court advantage. Atlanta is 8-4 at State Farm Arena this season. Seattle is 2-14 on the road. Following Friday’s game, Seattle travels to face the New York Liberty on Aug. 3, while Atlanta hosts the Las Vegas Aces on Aug. 3.
