SEATTLE (Interstat) — The Minnesota Lynx, owners of the best record in the WNBA, visit the Seattle Storm on Monday night at Key Arena in a matchup of teams heading in opposite directions. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. PDT. Minnesota (19-6) enters on a four-game winning streak and has won eight of its last 10. The Lynx most recently defeated the Los Angeles Sparks 96-87 on July 15, powered by a 24-point effort from guard Kayla McBride and an 18-point, five-assist game from Olivia Miles. Forward Natasha Howard recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds in that contest. Seattle (6-21) has lost four straight and eight of its last 10. The Storm fell 110-107 in overtime at Indiana on July 17, despite 28 points and 14 rebounds from center Dominique Malonga. Guard Flau’jae Johnson added 16 points and six assists. Howard, a veteran forward, has been a steady force for Minnesota. Over her last nine games, she has posted five double-doubles, including a 21-point, 14-rebound performance against Dallas on June 28 and a 21-point, 15-rebound effort against Washington on June 24. She is averaging 14.3 points and 10.1 rebounds across those contests. Malonga, a 6-foot-6 center, has been Seattle’s most consistent performer. In her last 10 games, she has recorded six double-doubles, highlighted by a 37-point, 12-rebound outburst against Dallas on June 22 and a 28-point, 14-rebound showing against Indiana on July 17. She is averaging 17.9 points and 11.3 rebounds over that span. The teams met once earlier this season, with Minnesota winning 88-68 on June 6 in Minneapolis. The Lynx held Seattle to 32.5% shooting and forced 18 turnovers. Minnesota leads the league in scoring defense, allowing 78.3 points per game. Seattle ranks last in scoring offense at 80.1 points per contest. The Lynx are also playing the second of a three-game road trip.
