ATLANTA (Interstat) β The Atlanta Dream look to build on a solid start to their season when they host the Los Angeles Sparks on Monday at State Farm Arena. Atlanta (13-10) enters the contest having lost its last two games, most recently a 102-92 defeat to the Portland Fire on Saturday. The Dream have split their last 10 contests but have compiled a strong home record. Forward Naz Hillmon has been a focal point for Atlanta. In the loss to Portland, she played 36 minutes and tallied 15 points, eight rebounds, two assists and a block. Over her last three games, Hillmon has averaged 8.3 points and 5 rebounds, though she has been inconsistent, scoring just two points twice in late June outings against Golden State. Los Angeles (10-11) arrives in Atlanta riding a two-game winning streak after defeating Chicago 102-87 on Friday. The Sparks have struggled on the road this season but showed resilience in their most recent victory. Forward Nneka Ogwumike has been dominant for Los Angeles. In the win over Chicago, she posted 25 points, 12 rebounds and five assists in 33 minutes. Over her last three games, Ogwumike is averaging 21 points and 10.3 rebounds, including a 14-point, 11-rebound double-double in a loss to Seattle. She has scored at least 24 points in four of her last six outings. The Sparks will also rely on Dearica Hamby and Ariel Atkins, who each scored 17 points in the win over the Sky. Hamby added seven rebounds and three assists. Mondayβs matchup features two teams heading in opposite directions. Atlanta is fighting to maintain its position in the standings, while Los Angeles is trying to climb back to .500. According to the Interstat game simulator, the projected final score is Atlanta 96, Los Angeles 87. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. EDT.
