WNBA: Storm at Mystics Preview WASHINGTON (Interstat) — The Seattle Storm visit the Washington Mystics on Sunday at CareFirst Arena, with both teams seeking momentum in a tightly contested WNBA season. Seattle (6-18) enters on a three-game losing streak after falling 89-78 at Atlanta on Thursday. Center Dominique Malonga has been a bright spot, averaging 17.8 points and 8.4 rebounds over her last five games, including a 22-point, five-rebound effort against Portland on July 4. The rookie from France leads the Storm in scoring (15.8 ppg) and rebounding (8.1 rpg) and will be key against a Mystics frontcourt led by Shakira Austin. Washington (10-10) is coming off a 62-49 loss to Golden State on Monday, its third defeat in four games. Austin, a 6-foot-5 center, has recorded double-doubles in three of her last seven contests, most recently an 11-point, 11-rebound performance against the Valkyries. She averages 10.9 points and 9.4 rebounds this season. The teams split their two previous meetings this season, each winning on the road. Washington won 78-64 in Seattle on May 27, while the Storm took the return game 97-85 on May 24. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 93-91 victory for the Mystics. Seattle will look to break its slide behind guards Natisha Hiedeman (20 points vs. Atlanta) and Flau’jae Johnson (14 points, five assists in that game). Washington aims to regain its early-season form after a 4-1 stretch in mid-June. Tipoff is set for 3 p.m. EDT.
