LOS ANGELES (Interstat) — The Seattle Storm will look to snap a five-game losing streak when they visit the Los Angeles Sparks on Monday at Crypto.com Arena in a WNBA matchup between two teams desperate for momentum. Seattle (5-16) is tied for the league’s worst record after a 90-67 loss at Phoenix on Thursday. The Storm have dropped 10 of their last 11, with their only victory in that span coming June 27 against Atlanta. Los Angeles (8-10) is coming off a 111-87 loss at Indiana on June 27, its fourth defeat in five contests. Monday’s game is the second meeting this season between the Pacific Division rivals. The Sparks won the first 88-83 at Seattle on June 10. Players to watch For Seattle, forward-center Awa Fam has been a bright spot. In her last five games, the rookie has averaged 14.4 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.8 assists. She posted 21 points against Atlanta on June 27 and grabbed 10 rebounds against Phoenix on June 20. Against Los Angeles on June 10, Fam had 12 points, six rebounds and four assists. For Los Angeles, veteran forward Nneka Ogwumike remains the Sparks’ anchor. She’s averaged 17.1 points and 8.0 rebounds over her last eight games, including 24 points and nine rebounds in the June 10 win over Seattle. Ogwumike also grabbed 15 rebounds and scored 15 points in an overtime victory against Phoenix on June 13. Recent trends Seattle has struggled offensively, averaging 78.6 points over its last five losses. The Storm’s only wins this season have come against Atlanta and New York (Interstat) — both at home. On the road, Seattle is 1-10. Los Angeles has been inconsistent, but its defense has held opponents to 89.3 points over the last three games after allowing 111 and 125 in consecutive losses to Indiana and Toronto. The Sparks are 5-4 at Crypto.com Arena. Simulation projection The Interstat game simulator projects a tight contest, with Seattle winning 96-94. That would mark only the Storm’s second road victory of the season. Looking ahead Seattle begins a road trip that continues Thursday at Atlanta. Los Angeles returns home Wednesday to host Indiana.
