SEATTLE (Interstat) — The Portland Fire and Seattle Storm will meet Saturday at Key Arena in a WNBA matchup of teams looking to climb the standings. Portland (8-12) defeated Seattle 94-89 on June 17 in Portland, but the Fire are coming off a grueling 124-123 quadruple-overtime loss to the Washington Mystics on Sunday. Guard Carla Leite, guard Sarah Ashlee Barker and center Megan Gustafson were the most productive players in that game. Portland has lost three of its last four overall, including two defeats at Chicago. Seattle (5-15) has won two consecutive games, beating New York 99-88 on Thursday and Atlanta 105-90 on Saturday. Guard Flau’jae Johnson is the Storm’s top performer, averaging 24 points, 11 rebounds and four assists in the win over Atlanta after a 28-point, nine-rebound outing against New York. Johnson scored just eight points in Seattle’s previous meeting with Portland. Key Arena has not been kind to the Storm this season; Seattle is 2-8 at home. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 95-94 Portland victory. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. PDT.
