UNCASVILLE, Conn. (Interstat) — The Dallas Wings, winners of three of their last five, visit the struggling Connecticut Sun on Thursday night at Mohegan Sun Arena in a WNBA matchup pitting one of the league’s top offensive teams against a defense that has allowed the second-most points per game. Dallas (11-8) sits fourth in the standings, while Connecticut (4-15) is tied for last in the league. The Wings are 8.5-point favorites, according to Interstat’s betting line, with an over/under of 169.5. The same projection model forecasts a 99-95 Dallas victory. Guard Paige Bueckers leads a Wings offense that averages 89.7 points per game. The former Connecticut star has scored at least 19 points in six of her last eight appearances, including a 31-point outburst against Phoenix on June 11. In Dallas’ most recent game, a 77-85 loss to Minnesota on June 28, Bueckers played 36 minutes and finished with 25 points, three rebounds and four assists. She is supported by forwards Jessica Shepard and Azzi Fudd. Shepard recorded a double-double against the Lynx with eight points and 16 rebounds, while Fudd added 21 points on 8-for-15 shooting. Connecticut, meanwhile, snapped a five-game losing streak with a 68-57 win over Washington on June 26. Center Olivia Nelson-Ododa posted 12 points, nine rebounds, three assists and three blocks in 30 minutes. She has recorded five double-digit scoring efforts in her last eight games and grabbed at least seven rebounds in four of those contests. The Sun have struggled offensively, averaging 81.1 points per game, but their defense held the Mystics to 37.5 percent shooting from the field. Thursday’s game will be the first meeting between the two teams this season. Dallas has not played at Mohegan Sun Arena since 2024. Bueckers, who grew up in Minnesota and played collegiately at UConn, is expected to face heavy fan attention in her return to the state. She has averaged 20.6 points and 5.1 assists over her last seven games. Connecticut will rely on guard Charlisse Leger-Walker, who contributed 10 points, three rebounds and five assists in the win over Washington, to help contain Dallas’ backcourt. After Thursday, the Wings travel to Toronto on July 5, while the Sun visit Minnesota on July 6.
