UNCASVILLE, Conn. (Interstat) — The Washington Mystics will look to sweep the season series against the Connecticut Sun on Friday night at Mohegan Sun Arena. Washington (8-7) enters the contest riding a three-game winning streak after an 84-79 road victory over the Minnesota Lynx on Sunday. The Mystics hold a 1-0 edge in the season series, having defeated the Sun 88-81 on June 17 in Uncasville. Connecticut (3-15) snapped a five-game losing streak with a commanding 92-63 home win over the Chicago Sky on Monday. The Sun remain at the bottom of the league standings despite the victory. PLAYERS TO WATCH Washington: Guard Sonia Citron has been dominant against Connecticut this season. In the June 17 matchup, Citron posted 26 points, 12 rebounds and four assists in 38 minutes. She has scored at least 21 points in two of her last three games, including a 21-point, three-rebound effort against Minnesota on Sunday. Connecticut: Center Olivia Nelson-Ododa is coming off her best performance of the season. Against Chicago on Monday, she recorded 11 points and a season-high 15 rebounds in 27 minutes. However, she played only 10 minutes against Washington on June 17, scoring five points. RECENT HISTORY The Mystics have won three of their last four games overall. Washington’s offense has been fueled by forward Kiki Iriafen (17 points, seven rebounds vs. Minnesota) and guard Cotie McMahon (15 points, five assists in the same game). The Sun have lost nine of their last 10 games. Brittney Griner added 14 points and eight rebounds in the win over Chicago. PROJECTION Interstat’s game simulator projects a 99-95 Washington victory. UP NEXT Washington returns home to face Portland on Sunday. Connecticut hosts Dallas on July 1.
