INDIANAPOLIS (Interstat) β€” The Indiana Fever look to build on their winning record Wednesday night when they host the Phoenix Mercury in a WNBA matchup at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Indiana (9-7) enters the game after a 113-96 loss at Atlanta on Saturday, but the Fever have won five of their last eight games overall. Guard Caitlin Clark keyed the offense with 26 points and seven assists in that defeat, continuing a torrid stretch. Over her past five games, Clark is averaging 25.8 points and 8.4 assists, including a 32-point, 10-assist effort in a double-overtime win against Chicago on June 11. Phoenix (5-12) arrives following a 93-73 victory over Seattle on Saturday, snapping a four-game losing streak. Forward Noemie Brochant posted 16 points and 10 assists in that win, her second double-digit assist performance of the season. Brochant has been inconsistent, however, scoring four points or fewer in four of her past six games. The Mercury have struggled on the road, dropping seven of their nine away games this season. Phoenix also lost its most recent head-to-head meeting with Indiana, falling 21-15 on Monday in a low-scoring contest. Indiana’s Aliyah Boston adds an inside presence, averaging 13 points and nine rebounds over her last two games. The Fever rank fifth in the league in scoring offense (85.1 points per game), while Phoenix ranks near the bottom in both offense and defense. The Interstat game simulator projects a 92-85 Indiana victory. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. EDT.
