WASHINGTON (Interstat) — The Washington Mystics will look to complete a season sweep of the Minnesota Lynx when the teams meet Wednesday night at CareFirst Arena. Washington (8-7) defeated Minnesota 84-79 on Sunday in the teams’ most recent meeting, snapping the Lynx’s three-game winning streak. The Mystics have won three of their past four games, while Minnesota (13-4) owns the WNBA’s best record and has won eight of its past 10. Forward Natasha Howard has been a consistent force for the Lynx. In Sunday’s loss at Minnesota, she played 36 minutes and finished with 20 points, six rebounds and two assists. Howard has scored at least 15 points in six of her past seven games, including a 27-point effort against Seattle on June 6. She is averaging 17.6 points over that span. Guard Sonia Citron leads a Washington team that has found its rhythm after an inconsistent start. Citron posted 21 points, three rebounds, two assists and a steal in Sunday’s win. She has scored 16 or more points in four of her past five games, highlighted by a 26-point, 12-rebound, four-assist performance in an 88-81 victory at Connecticut on June 17. Minnesota enters after a 111-77 win at Phoenix on June 1, its most recent game before Sunday’s loss. The Lynx have the league’s second-best scoring offense, averaging 87.9 points per game, and their defense allows 77.8. Washington is coming off a three-game road trip that included wins at New York and Connecticut before Sunday’s victory. The Mystics are 4-3 at home this season. Minnesota forward Nia Coffey added five points and eight rebounds in Sunday’s game, while guard Olivia Miles had 22 points, five rebounds and six assists for the Lynx. Forward Kiki Iriafen contributed 17 points and seven rebounds for Washington in that contest. Interstat’s game simulator projects a Washington victory, 93-90. The Lynx will play at Dallas on Sunday. The Mystics visit Connecticut on Friday.
