WNBA: Dream at Valkyries SAN FRANCISCO (Interstat) — The Atlanta Dream visit the Golden State Valkyries on Wednesday at Chase Center in a matchup of two of the WNBA’s top teams. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. PDT. Atlanta (11-4) enters with the league’s best record, powered by a balanced offense that has won four of its past five games. The Dream are coming off a 113-96 victory over Indiana on Saturday, their second win against the Fever in three meetings this month. Guard Jordin Canada has been the engine for Atlanta. In that victory over Indiana, Canada logged 32 minutes and posted 12 points, seven rebounds and 12 assists for a triple-double. Over her past 10 games, the veteran playmaker has averaged 10.5 points, 3.2 rebounds and 7.1 assists while shooting efficiently. She has recorded at least five assists in nine of those outings, including a 10-assist performance June 2 against Connecticut. Golden State (10-7) has dropped two straight, including a 92-73 loss at Las Vegas on Sunday. The Valkyries have struggled to generate consistent offense, scoring 75 or fewer points in three of their past four games. Forward Laeticia Amihere is a player to watch for Golden State. Though her minutes have been limited (Interstat) — she played 12 against Las Vegas, her highest total since May 28 (Interstat) — Amihere made the most of the opportunity, scoring 10 points with three rebounds and a block. She has appeared in seven games this season, averaging 3.7 points and 3.0 rebounds in 7.0 minutes per game. Atlanta’s recent surge has been fueled by its starting guards. Rhyne Howard scored 24 points against Indiana on Saturday, and Allisha Gray added 22 points and five rebounds. The Dream rank among the WNBA leaders in scoring offense. Golden State has relied on a committee approach. Kaitlyn Chen led the Valkyries with 11 points Sunday, and Kaila Charles added seven points and four rebounds. Interstat’s game simulator projects Golden State winning 94-84. The teams will meet again Friday in San Francisco, the first of back-to-back games between the two clubs, before Atlanta visits Seattle on Saturday.
