INDIANAPOLIS (Interstat) — Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever look to build on their winning record Monday night when they host the Phoenix Mercury in a WNBA matchup at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. EDT. Indiana (9-7) enters the game with a four-game home winning streak, while Phoenix (5-12) seeks its second straight victory after beating Seattle 93-73 on Saturday. Clark, the Fever’s star guard, has been on an offensive tear, averaging 26 points over her last two games. She posted 26 points, three rebounds and seven assists in a 113-96 loss to Atlanta on Saturday, following a 26-point, seven-assist effort in a 108-101 loss to the Dream on Thursday. On June 11, she scored 32 points with seven rebounds and 10 assists in a 114-106 overtime win over Chicago. Noemie Brochant, a forward for the Mercury, is a player to watch. She recorded 16 points, two rebounds and 10 assists in Saturday’s win over Seattle, playing 32 minutes. However, she has been inconsistent, scoring four points in a loss to Las Vegas on June 17 and four points in a defeat at Dallas on June 11. Phoenix is coming off a dominant performance Saturday, with Valeriane Ayayi posting 18 points and 11 rebounds. Kahleah Copper added 17 points and seven rebounds. The Mercury have lost nine of their last 10 games, with their only other win in that span coming June 3 against Seattle. Indiana has won four of its last six, including victories over Toronto, Connecticut, Chicago and Washington. The Fever’s most recent loss came Saturday at Atlanta. According to Interstat’s game simulator, Indiana is projected to win 92-84. These teams will meet again Wednesday in Indianapolis before facing off July 9 in Phoenix.
