ARLINGTON, Texas (Interstat) — The Las Vegas Aces and Dallas Wings, two of the WNBA’s top contenders, meet Monday night at College Park Center in a pivotal early-season matchup. The Aces (9-3) own the league’s best record, while the Wings (8-4) sit just one game back. Both teams enter on winning streaks, with Las Vegas having won four straight and Dallas three of its last four. The game is a rematch of a May 28 contest in Dallas, which the Wings won 95-87. In that game, Dallas guard Paige Bueckers scored 20 points with six assists, while Las Vegas center A’ja Wilson had 21 points and seven rebounds. An Interstat game simulator projects a 95-83 Dallas victory Monday. The matchup features two of the league’s most dynamic stars. Wilson, the reigning MVP, has been dominant, averaging 30.3 points, 12 rebounds and 3.3 assists over her last six games. In a June 8 win over Seattle, she posted 34 points, 12 rebounds and nine assists. She has recorded double-doubles in four of her past five outings. Bueckers, the Wings’ rookie sensation, is averaging 19.4 points and 6.8 assists this season. She scored 31 points with six rebounds in a June 11 win over Phoenix. In the earlier meeting with Las Vegas, she had 20 points and six assists. Dallas is deep, with forward Jessica Shepard averaging a double-double and guard Azzi Fudd contributing 17 points per game. Las Vegas counters with guard Chelsea Gray, who had 29 points and five assists in the Aces’ last game, and guard Jackie Young, who notched 10 assists in that contest. The Wings are 5-1 at home this season. The Aces are 4-2 on the road. Las Vegas travels to Phoenix on Wednesday. Dallas visits Golden State on Wednesday. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. Central.
