LAS VEGAS (Interstat) — The Los Angeles Sparks visit the Phoenix Mercury on Saturday at Michelob Ultra Arena, with tipoff set for 7 p.m. PDT. Los Angeles (6-6) aims to build on a two-game winning streak after an 88-83 victory at Seattle on Wednesday. Phoenix (4-9) returns home following an 87-81 loss at Golden State on Tuesday, its fourth defeat in five games. The Sparks feature forward Nneka Ogwumike, who is averaging 18.3 points and 10.0 rebounds over her last six contests. In Los Angeles’ most recent outing, Ogwumike posted 24 points and nine rebounds in 33 minutes against the Storm. She recorded back-to-back double-doubles against Portland (20 points, 17 rebounds) on June 7 and Dallas (13 points, 10 rebounds) on June 5. Ogwumike also scored 20 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in a 92-87 win at Washington on May 29. She contributed 12 points, six rebounds and two assists in the Sparks’ 97-88 victory over the Mercury on May 21. Phoenix counters with forward Alyssa Thomas, who has recorded five double-doubles this season. Thomas posted 22 points, eight rebounds and nine assists in the loss to Golden State. She recorded 23 points, seven rebounds and seven assists against the Sparks on May 21. Thomas also produced 20 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists in an 82-80 loss at Atlanta on May 24, and tossed 17 points, 11 rebounds and six assists in a 91-83 win over Chicago on May 15. Los Angeles defeated Phoenix 97-88 at home on May 21. The simulation model by Interstat projects a 99-98 victory for the Mercury. The Sparks will travel to face Golden State on Monday. The Mercury will host Las Vegas on Wednesday.
