MINNEAPOLIS (Interstat) — The Minnesota Lynx look to extend their early-season dominance Tuesday night when they host the Dallas Wings in a matchup of two of the WNBA’s top teams at Target Center. Minnesota (9-2) owns the league’s best record and enters the contest on a five-game winning streak after beating the Seattle Storm 88-68 on Saturday. The Lynx have won nine of their past 10 overall, with their only loss coming May 17 against Chicago. Minnesota’s balanced attack has been fueled by forward Natasha Howard, who scored 27 points and added five rebounds and two blocks in the win over Seattle. Howard has been a consistent force, averaging 18.1 points and 7.8 rebounds over her last eight games. She posted a 26-point, five-rebound, four-assist performance in Minnesota’s 90-86 victory at Dallas on May 14. Dallas (7-3) is off to a strong start but has dropped two straight matchups to Minnesota, including that May 14 decision. The Wings are coming off a 104-96 win at Los Angeles on Friday, powered by Arike Ogunbowale’s 30 points and Paige Bueckers’ 14 assists. Forward Jessica Shepard has been a focal point for Dallas, recording a triple-double — 22 points, 20 rebounds and 10 assists — in a win over Las Vegas on May 28. Shepard also posted a double-double against New York on May 24 and Chicago on May 20, though she was held to seven points and six rebounds in the earlier loss to Minnesota. The Wings have won four of their last five overall but face a stern test against a Lynx team that has won seven of eight at home. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 96-74 Minnesota victory. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. CDT. The teams meet again June 28 in Dallas.
