LOS ANGELES (Interstat) — The surging Dallas Wings, riding a four-game winning streak behind the versatile play of guard Paige Bueckers, visit the Los Angeles Sparks on Friday night at Crypto.com Arena in a pivotal early-season WNBA matchup. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. PDT. The Wings (6-3) enter the contest fresh off a dominant 79-56 victory over Seattle on Monday, their fourth straight win. Dallas has won six of its last seven after opening the season with two losses in its first three games. The team has demonstrated a potent offense, scoring at least 91 points in five of its wins. Bueckers has been the engine of Dallas’s recent surge. Over her last three games, the guard has averaged 18.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists. She posted a near triple-double against Seattle with 10 points, nine rebounds and seven assists in just 24 minutes. In the three wins prior, she logged 20 points against Las Vegas, 24 against New York and 24 against Chicago. Her all-around production has helped the Wings overcome the loss of key minutes from other scorers. The Sparks (4-5) are coming off a 79-69 home loss to Las Vegas on Tuesday, a game in which they struggled to generate offense after the first quarter. Los Angeles has alternated wins and losses over its last six games, a stretch that has included narrow defeats to Connecticut and Toronto. Forward Nneka Ogwumike remains the focal point for Los Angeles. She posted 12 points and 12 rebounds in the loss to the Aces, her third double-double of the season. Over her last five games, Ogwumike is averaging 14.2 points and 7.4 rebounds. The Sparks will need her to be efficient against a Dallas frontcourt that has been aggressive on the boards. The Wings have shown an ability to close games, winning three of their last four by double digits. Dallas is 4-1 on the road this season. Los Angeles is 2-2 at home. According to Interstat’s game simulator, the matchup is projected to be close, with the Sparks holding a slight edge at 94-93. Following Friday’s game, the Wings travel to Minnesota on Tuesday, while the Sparks host Portland on Sunday.
