WASHINGTON (Interstat) — The New York Liberty, coming off a decisive season-opening victory, visit the Washington Mystics on Sunday at CareFirst Arena in the first road game of the WNBA campaign for both teams. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. ET. New York (1-0) enters the matchup after a 106-75 rout of the Connecticut Sun on Friday. The Liberty shot 54.5 percent from the field and connected on 14 of 30 attempts from 3-point range. The win extended New York’s momentum from its 2025 season, in which the team finished with a 32-8 regular-season record before falling in the WNBA Finals. The Liberty will play 10 games over the next 24 days, including a three-game series at Portland beginning Monday. Washington (0-0) opens its regular season at home after finishing 14-26 last year. The Mystics have not played a competitive game since a 75-66 loss at New York on Sept. 9, 2025, in their season finale. Washington’s schedule ramps quickly: after Sunday, the Mystics play five consecutive road games, beginning May 15 at Indiana. The team returns to CareFirst Arena for two home games May 29 and June 2 against the Los Angeles Sparks and Chicago Sky, respectively. Sunday’s game marks the first of four scheduled meetings between the Liberty and Mystics this season. New York leads the all-time series 47-40. The Liberty are seeking their first 2-0 start since 2023. Washington is looking to snap a three-game losing streak against New York dating to last season.
