DETROIT (Interstat) — The Detroit Pistons will look to take a commanding 2-0 lead in their Eastern Conference playoff series against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Thursday night at Little Caesars Arena. Game 2 is set for 7 p.m. EDT. The Pistons hold a 1-0 lead in the best-of-seven series after a 105-98 victory Tuesday. Detroit won the regular-season series 3-2. Detroit (64-25) finished with the best record in the Eastern Conference, while Cleveland (56-33) secured the No. 4 seed. The Pistons advanced past the Orlando Magic in six games in the first round, while the Cavaliers eliminated the Toronto Raptors in seven games. Pistons forward Tobias Harris has been a key contributor in the postseason. In Detroit’s series-clinching win over Orlando on May 3, Harris logged 30 points, nine rebounds and two assists in 36 minutes. Over his last eight playoff games, Harris has averaged 20.4 points and 7.4 rebounds. Cavaliers center Jarrett Allen has been a force on the boards. Allen recorded 22 points and 19 rebounds in Cleveland’s Game 7 victory over Toronto on Sunday. He has averaged 12.7 points and 9.5 rebounds over his last eight postseason contests. The first-round series between these teams will feature a quick turnaround. Detroit won Game 1 behind 32 points and 12 assists from Cade Cunningham. Jalen Duren added 15 points and 15 rebounds for the Pistons. Cleveland’s James Harden scored 18 points with six rebounds in the series opener. Evan Mobley contributed 13 points and seven boards. Harris has been particularly effective in the playoffs, shooting 48% from the field. Allen has shot 54% from the floor in his postseason appearances. The Cavaliers have lost three of their last four games against Detroit. Tuesday’s win gave the Pistons their third victory in the last four meetings between the teams. Thursday’s game starts a busy stretch for both teams. The series will shift to Cleveland for Game 3 on Saturday, with Game 4 on Monday. A potential Game 5 would be Wednesday in Detroit. Detroit is looking to advance past the second round for the first time since 2008. Cleveland is seeking its first conference finals appearance since 2018.
