NBA Playoffs: 76ers at Knicks, Game 2 NEW YORK (Interstat) — The Philadelphia 76ers face a quick turnaround Wednesday, May 6, 2026, against the New York Knicks in Game 2 of their Eastern Conference playoff series at Madison Square Garden. The top-seeded Knicks (58-32) seized a 1-0 series lead Monday with a 57-41 victory, a defensive slugfest that limited Philadelphia to its lowest point total of the season. New York aims to take a commanding 2-0 lead before the series shifts to Philadelphia for three potential games. The sixth-seeded 76ers (50-40) enter after a grueling seven-game first-round series against Boston, which they won 4-3. Philadelphia arrives with momentum from a 109-100 win Saturday in Boston, powered by guard Tyrese Maxey’s 30 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists. Center Joel Embiid contributed 34 points and 12 rebounds in that victory. Maxey has been Philadelphia’s offensive engine, averaging 28.1 points over his last 10 games. He posted 30 points in each of the 76ers’ last two wins against Boston. In the series opener Monday, however, Maxey was held to 10 points on 4-of-17 shooting as the Knicks’ defense swarmed him. Forward OG Anunoby leads New York’s defensive charge. After averaging 18.7 points and 7.4 rebounds in the first round against Atlanta, Anunoby scored 29 points on 11-of-17 shooting in Game 2 against Atlanta. He recorded 16 points and 6 rebounds in Game 1 against Philadelphia. The Knicks dominated the regular-season series, winning three of four meetings. New York defeated Philadelphia 138-89 on Feb. 11, holding the 76ers to 33.3% shooting. The 76ers’ lone win came Jan. 3, a 130-119 victory at Madison Square Garden. Wednesday’s game tips off at 7 p.m. Eastern. Game 3 is Friday in Philadelphia. Game 4 is Sunday in Philadelphia. Game 5, if necessary, returns to New York on May 12. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 118-106 New York victory, with the Knicks’ balanced scoring and home-court advantage proving decisive against a 76ers team that relied heavily on Maxey and Embiid in the Boston series. For Philadelphia to even the series, it must generate offense beyond its two stars while containing Anunoby and guard Mikal Bridges, who scored 24 points in the series opener.
