AP Sports Preview: Thunder at Suns, Game 3 PHOENIX (Interstat) — The top-seeded Oklahoma City Thunder look to take a commanding 3-0 lead in their first-round playoff series against the Phoenix Suns on Saturday afternoon at Mortgage Matchup Center. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. MDT. Oklahoma City (66-18), the Western Conference’s No. 1 seed, has dominated the series so far, winning 120-107 on Wednesday and 119-84 on Sunday. The Thunder enter with a 3-2 regular-season series edge over Phoenix, though the Suns won the most recent meeting in Phoenix, 108-105, on Jan. 4. Guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander leads Oklahoma City’s offensive attack. In two playoff games against Phoenix, he has averaged 31 points, 4.5 rebounds and 8 assists, including 37 points, five rebounds and nine assists in Game 1. Over his last nine games, Gilgeous-Alexander has scored at least 20 points, with a season-high 47 points in a March 30 overtime win over Detroit. The Thunder also rely on center Chet Holmgren (19 points, eight rebounds, four blocks in Game 1) and guard Jalen Williams (19 points in Game 1). Phoenix (46-40), the No. 8 seed, has lost four of its last six games and is searching for answers after two lopsided defeats in Oklahoma City. Forward Royce O’Neale has been a bright spot, recording 16 points, nine rebounds and four assists in Game 1. Guard Devin Booker added 22 points, seven rebounds and four assists in that contest, while forward Dillon Brooks scored 30. The Suns’ most recent win came April 17, a 111-96 victory over Golden State. They have lost four of their last five. National Statistical’s game simulator projects a 121-114 Phoenix win, but the Thunder are favored by 9.5 points, according to BetMGM Sportsbook. The over/under is 215.5. Game 4 is Monday in Phoenix, with Game 5 scheduled for Wednesday in Oklahoma City if necessary.
