PISTONS AT MAGIC: GAME 3 PREVIEW ORLANDO, Fla. (Interstat) — The top-seeded Detroit Pistons, owners of the NBA’s best regular-season record, visit the Kia Center on Saturday to face the Orlando Magic in Game 3 of their first-round playoff series, with the series tied 1-1. Detroit (61-23) seized home-court advantage with a 98-83 victory Wednesday, holding Orlando to 35.4% shooting. The Pistons avenged a 112-101 loss in Game 1 and have won three of their last four meetings with the Magic, though Orlando took the most recent contest in Central Florida, a 123-107 decision on April 6. The Pistons lean heavily on All-Star guard Cade Cunningham, who averaged 33 points and 7.5 assists across the first two games in Detroit. In Wednesday’s win, the 6-foot-6 guard logged 27 points, 11 assists and six rebounds over 37 minutes. Across his last five outings, Cunningham has posted three double-doubles, including a 14-assist effort against Indiana on April 12. Orlando counters with forward Paolo Banchero, who averaged 20.5 points and 7.5 rebounds in the series’ first two games. The former No. 1 overall pick struggled to 18 points on 7-of-19 shooting in Game 2 but posted a triple-double — 23 points, 10 rebounds, 11 assists — against Boston on April 12. Banchero scored 31 against Detroit on April 6. The Magic’s supporting cast must improve after Game 2. Guards Jalen Suggs (19 points Wednesday) and Franz Wagner (12 points) combined for 31 points but shot a combined 10 of 30 from the field. Orlando shot 5 of 21 from 3-point range. Detroit forward Tobias Harris added 16 points and 11 rebounds in Game 2, while center Jalen Duren contributed 11 points and nine boards. The National Statistical’s game simulator projects a 117-113 Orlando victory. Detroit enters as a 2.5-point favorite, with the over/under set at 217. The series continues Monday in Orlando for Game 4, with a potential Game 5 back in Detroit on April 29. Tipoff is at 7 p.m. EST.
