Boston (78-63) had not named a starter. The forecast calls for 73 degrees and cloudy skies. The Red Sox won Monday’s series opener 9-8 in 10 innings and have taken three of four meetings this season. Boston won two of three at Seattle in June before Monday’s victory. Monday’s game featured Seattle left fielder Randy Arozarena, who went 4 for 5 with a home run and four RBIs. Arozarena is the Mariners’ player to watch during this series. In his past 10 games, he is 11 for 37 with four home runs and nine RBIs. Dominic Canzone drove in two runs in Monday’s loss, and Gabe Speier threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings. Still, Seattle has lost five straight: three at Toronto, a home loss to Philadelphia and Monday’s loss at Fenway. For Boston, right-handed reliever Alec Gamboa is the Red Sox player to watch. He pitched two scoreless innings Monday, allowing one hit and striking out one. Gamboa has not allowed an earned run in his past seven appearances, a span of 11 innings. Shortstop Trevor Story had three RBIs in Monday’s win. Boston is 15 games over .500, while Seattle is 10 games under.
