King has been sharp lately, giving up two earned runs or fewer in three of his last four starts. The Padres (73-65) have won three of four meetings with Cincinnati this season. Right-hander Randy Vásquez (10-6) is scheduled to start Tuesday for San Diego. The Reds will counter with left-hander Nick Lodolo (3-3). The forecast calls for 90-degree heat with cloudy skies. Cincinnati (65-76) will try to bounce back after being shut out Monday. The Reds’ Julian Garcia worked 1 2/3 scoreless innings in relief Monday, allowing no hits and striking out three. Garcia has been scoreless in five of his last seven appearances. The Padres have been installed as a minus-1.5 run-line favorite, according to Interstat, with an over/under of 9.5 runs. Interstat’s ELO system gives San Diego a 57 percent chance to win, while its game simulator projects Cincinnati for a 5-3 win. San Diego is coming off a rough stretch on the road, losing three straight at Tampa Bay before regrouping in Monday’s series opener. Cincinnati has split its last two games after a high-scoring series at Chicago. The teams wrap up the three-game set Wednesday before San Diego returns home to host the New York Yankees, and Cincinnati hosts the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday.
