MILWAUKEE (Interstat) — The Milwaukee Brewers open a three-game series against the Minnesota Twins on Friday night at American Family Field, where the forecast calls for 74 degrees and cloudy skies at first pitch. Milwaukee enters with a 72-43 record, while Minnesota is 56-59. The Twins have lost four straight, including a 2-1 defeat at Kansas City on Wednesday. The Brewers have won six of their last 10 and took three of four from Pittsburgh earlier this week. The teams last met May 15-17 in Minneapolis, with Milwaukee winning two of three. The Brewers won 3-2 and 2-1 before the Twins salvaged a 5-4 victory. Right-hander Dean Kremer starts for Minnesota. In his most recent outing Wednesday at Kansas City, Kremer allowed one run on three hits in five innings, striking out two, but took the loss. Minnesota’s offense has struggled during its skid, managing one run in that game and two the previous night in an 8-2 loss to the Royals. Right-hander Dustin May starts for Milwaukee. May earned a win Thursday against Pittsburgh, allowing two runs on three hits in six innings with five strikeouts. Catcher Gary Sánchez supported May in that game, going 2 for 3 with a home run and an RBI in Milwaukee’s 5-2 victory. Milwaukee has been strong at home, and its rotation has given the Brewers a boost during the current stretch. May will look to continue that trend Friday while Minnesota tries to snap its slide and regain the form that helped it win three of four before beginning its current losing streak. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 6-5 Milwaukee victory, which would extend the Brewers’ recent dominance against the Twins in the season series. Milwaukee has already won two of the three meetings this year, and another win would give it a 3-1 edge. The series continues Saturday and Sunday at American Family Field. After the weekend, Minnesota returns home to open a six-game homestand against Baltimore and Philadelphia. Milwaukee follows the series with a seven-game road trip to San Diego and Los Angeles before returning home to face Seattle on Aug. 18. Friday’s game features a matchup between two pitchers on opposite trajectories. Kremer will try to bounce back from a losing effort, while May will aim to build on his win. With Milwaukee near the top of the standings and Minnesota fighting to stay relevant in the playoff race, both teams have plenty at stake in the opener.
