PHOENIX (Interstat) — The Los Angeles Dodgers look to snap a six-game losing streak Friday night when they open a three-game series against the Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field. Los Angeles (69-46) leads the NL West but has dropped six straight, including Wednesday’s 7-6 loss at Chicago. Arizona (61-55) enters after a 5-1 loss to San Diego on Thursday, but owns a 4-1 edge in the past five meetings between the teams and has won four consecutive matchups overall. Dodgers designated hitter Shohei Ohtani remains the biggest threat. In Wednesday’s loss at Wrigley Field, Ohtani went 3-for-5 with two homers and three RBIs. Over his past 10 games, he is batting .400 with four home runs and nine RBIs. Los Angeles’ recent skid has come despite his production, and the Dodgers will need him again against an Arizona bullpen that often turns to right-hander Jonathan Loáisiga in high-leverage spots. Loáisiga was sharp in Thursday’s loss to San Diego, allowing no hits and no earned runs over 1.1 innings with two strikeouts. In 10 appearances since July 12, he has allowed five earned runs over 9.1 innings, with 10 strikeouts. He also pitched a scoreless inning against the Dodgers on July 12 in Los Angeles. Arizona’s Gabriel Moreno went 3-for-4 with an RBI in Thursday’s loss, and catcher/outfielder depth could play a role in a series that has frequently been decided by late runs. In the clubs’ three-game set in Los Angeles in July, Arizona swept consecutive games by scores of 9-3, 9-2 and 5-3 after dropping the opener. At Chase Field in June, Arizona and Los Angeles split a four-game series. According to Interstat’s game simulator, the projected final score is Arizona 5, Los Angeles 2. Interstat’s ELO system, however, gives the Dodgers a 56.70 percent probability to win. The Dodgers have been installed as a pregame favorite on the run line at -1.5, with the over/under set at 9.5 runs. The series continues Saturday and Sunday at Chase Field. Afterward, the Dodgers return home to host Kansas City, while Arizona remains home for three games against Colorado before traveling to Atlanta. The pitching matchup for Friday had not been announced.
