HOUSTON (Interstat) — Ernie Clement hit a two-run home run in the 10th inning and Jesús Sánchez added a two-run shot in the sixth as the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Houston Astros 5-4 on Wednesday, Aug. 5, at Daikin Park. Toronto trailed 3-0 after Houston scored three in the third, then Sánchez tied it with his eighth homer, scoring Kazuma Okamoto. Clement’s ninth homer, scoring Luis Urías, put Toronto ahead in the 10th. Houston scored in the bottom half when Yordan Alvarez singled in Jeremy Peña, but Chase Lee got the final out for his first save of the season. Louis Varland pitched a scoreless inning for the win, improving to 4-4. Bennett Sousa took the loss, dropping to 0-1. Hunter Brown allowed three runs over six innings with eight strikeouts for Houston. Jose Altuve homered for the Astros, who outhit Toronto 10-5. The Blue Jays have listed right-handers Dylan Cease (7-5) and Hunter Brown (3-1) as probable pitchers. Toronto had not announced a final starter for Wednesday. Cease has been the more experienced option, while Brown is 3-1 this season. The Astros have not named a probable starter. Trey Yesavage is a player to watch for Toronto. The right-hander threw two scoreless innings in Tuesday’s loss and worked 6.2 innings with one earned run and four strikeouts in a July 29 win at Washington.
