ATLANTA (Interstat) — The Atlanta Braves opened a seven-game homestand with a four-game winning streak, and they’ll try to stay hot Tuesday night when they begin a three-game series against the Miami Marlins at Truist Park in Sandy Springs, Georgia. First pitch is scheduled under cloudy skies with temperatures near 80 degrees. Atlanta enters with a 67-45 record, the best in the NL East. Miami is 58-55, three games above .500 and in the thick of the wild-card race. The Braves have won five of seven meetings this season, including a three-game sweep May 19-21 in Miami. Atlanta also took two of three at home in mid-April. Both teams come in rolling. The Braves have won four straight after sweeping Washington over the weekend. The Marlins have won three in a row following a three-game sweep at the New York Mets, capped by Sunday’s 2-0 shutout. Miami’s standout in that game was right-hander Sandy Alcantara, who threw six scoreless innings, allowing four hits and striking out five. In his past two starts, Alcantara has allowed zero earned runs over 13 innings with 10 strikeouts. The Marlins will lean on him to quiet a Braves lineup that has scored 23 runs during its winning streak. Atlanta’s Didier Fuentes has emerged as a key arm out of the bullpen. The right-hander threw two scoreless innings with four strikeouts in Sunday’s win over Washington. Over his last 10 appearances, Fuentes has struck out 20 in 12 1/3 innings while limiting opponents to three earned runs. Miami’s offense got a boost Sunday from catcher Joe Mack, who went 2 for 3 with a home run and an RBI. The Marlins have won five of their last six games, with strong starting pitching and a bullpen that has locked down late leads. Atlanta’s pitching staff has been equally effective. JR Ritchie struck out four in four innings Sunday, and Raisel Iglesias worked a scoreless inning in relief. The Braves have allowed two or fewer runs in each of their past four games. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 7-5 Atlanta victory. The ELO model gives the Braves a 59.2 percent probability to win. Atlanta is installed as a minus-1.5 favorite on the run line, with the over/under set at 9. The series continues Wednesday and Thursday at Truist Park before Atlanta heads to New York for a weekend series against the Yankees. Miami returns home Friday to open a three-game series against the Los Angeles Angels. For the Braves, another strong start from their pitching staff against a confident Miami team would extend their homestand success. For the Marlins, Tuesday offers a chance to make an early statement in the division and continue their push toward October.
