ATLANTA (Interstat) — The Washington Nationals look to snap a three-game losing streak Sunday against the Atlanta Braves at Truist Park, with rain and 83-degree temperatures in the forecast. Right-hander Cade Cavalli (8-4) is scheduled to start for Washington against Atlanta left-hander Martín Pérez (7-6). Cavalli enters with the better record, while Pérez is coming off a dominant outing in Saturday’s 8-3 Braves victory over Washington, allowing one hit and striking out six in seven innings. The Braves (66-45) have won three straight in the series and seven of 10 meetings this season. Washington (55-57) has lost four of its last five and is in danger of being swept in the four-game set. The Nationals last beat Atlanta on May 24, 2-1, and have been outscored 19-9 in the first three games of this series. Pérez has been Atlanta’s most reliable arm recently. In his last three starts, he has allowed three earned runs in 16 innings, though he gave up eight hits and three runs in five innings July 27 at the New York Mets. He also held San Diego scoreless over four innings on July 22. For Washington, reliever Eddy Yean remains a player to watch. Yean has not allowed an earned run in three of his last four appearances, including 1 1/3 scoreless innings Saturday and two scoreless innings July 22 at Colorado. He did allow two earned runs in 2 1/3 innings against Toronto on July 27. In Saturday’s loss, Dylan Crews went 1 for 4 with an RBI, and Miles Mikolas took the loss after allowing four earned runs in six innings. The Nationals have scored three or fewer runs in each of their past three games, all against Atlanta. Austin Riley drove in two runs and Dominic Smith homered for Atlanta on Saturday. The Braves have gotten timely hitting throughout the series and can complete a four-game sweep with a win Sunday. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 6-3 Atlanta victory and gives the Braves a 62.3 percent win probability. Still, oddsmakers have installed Washington as a -1.5 run-line favorite, with the over/under set at 9. A win would stretch Atlanta’s lead in the NL East. The Nationals open a four-game series at Philadelphia on Monday, while the Braves host Miami on Tuesday.
