HOUSTON (Interstat) — Kumar Rocker takes the mound Sunday as the Texas Rangers visit the Houston Astros at Daikin Park in an AL West matchup. Rocker (4-8) is Texas’ scheduled starter. The Astros had not announced a starter. Forecasts call for clear skies and 97 degrees at game time. The Rangers (55-56) have lost four straight after Saturday’s 5-4 loss to the Astros. Houston (57-55) has won five in a row and is seeking a three-game sweep of the series. The Astros have won six of 10 meetings this season. In Saturday’s loss, Tyler Alexander was the standout performer for Texas, throwing two scoreless innings with one strikeout. Elias Díaz supplied a two-run homer, and Chase Silseth struck out two in a scoreless inning. Alexander remains a reliable leverage option in the Rangers bullpen. For Houston, Josh Hader continued his strong run Saturday, pitching a hitless inning and earning the win. Hader has allowed one earned run over his past seven appearances. The exception against Texas came July 12, when Hader suffered a loss without recording an out, surrendering three hits and a run. In Saturday’s win, Ronel Blanco worked 4 2/3 innings and allowed three runs while striking out four, and Steven Okert added 1 1/3 scoreless innings. The Interstat game simulator projects a 7-4 Houston victory, and Interstat’s ELO system gives the Astros a 54.7 percent win probability. Houston opened as a minus-1.5 run favorite, with the over/under set at 8.5. A Rangers win would snap their slide and give Texas a boost before a five-game homestand against San Francisco and Baltimore. Houston, meanwhile, looks to continue its surge before opening a homestand Monday against Toronto.
