(Interstat) — The Tampa Bay Rays and Chicago White Sox close their three-game series Sunday at George Steinbrenner Field, with rain and 87-degree heat in the forecast for the afternoon/evening start. Tampa Bay enters at 65-45, while Chicago is 58-52. The Rays won Saturday 1-0 to square the series after Chicago took Friday’s opener 6-1. Tampa Bay also leads the season series 4-2. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 7-5 Tampa Bay victory, and Interstat’s ELO system gives the Rays a 59.70 percent chance to win. The Rays are installed as a 1.5-run favorite, with the over/under set at 8. Chicago lists Anthony Kay (7-5) and Griffin Jax (6-8) as probable pitchers; the White Sox had not announced a definitive starter. Tampa Bay had not announced its starter. White Sox left-hander Noah Schultz is a player to watch. He took the loss Saturday despite allowing just one earned run over five innings, striking out four. In his past five starts, Schultz has gone 1-4 with a 5.73 ERA, allowing 27 hits in 22 innings. Rays right-hander Drew Rasmussen has been dominant. He earned the win Saturday, allowing four hits and no runs over six innings while striking out 10. Over his last two starts, Rasmussen has allowed one hit and no earned runs in 13 innings with 19 strikeouts. After Sunday, the White Sox travel to Boston for a three-game series beginning Tuesday. The Rays open a three-game series at Colorado on Monday.
