TORONTO (Interstat) — The St. Louis Cardinals and Toronto Blue Jays play the middle game of their three-game series Saturday at Rogers Centre. St. Louis (55-57) has lost four of its past five after Friday’s 3-1 loss to Toronto. The Blue Jays (51-59) have won three of their past four. St. Louis lists left-hander Quinn Mathews as its probable pitcher, with right-hander Kevin Gausman (4-10) also reported as probable. Kyle Leahy is a player to watch for St. Louis. Leahy took the loss Friday despite allowing one earned run over six innings. He has completed six innings in three of his last four starts, including a nine-strikeout outing against Cincinnati on July 26. Dylan Cease is a player to watch for Toronto. Cease beat the Cardinals on Friday, allowing one run over six innings with seven strikeouts. He also threw a one-hit shutout with 12 strikeouts at Boston on July 25 and has won three of his past four decisions. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 4-3 Toronto win. Interstat’s ELO model gives Toronto a 55.7 percent chance to win. Toronto is a 1.5-run favorite, with the over/under at 8.5. The series closes Sunday afternoon at Rogers Centre. St. Louis then travels to New York for three games against the Yankees, while Toronto opens a three-game series at Houston.
