SEATTLE (Interstat) — The Minnesota Twins (56-55) and Seattle Mariners (53-58) continue their three-game series Saturday evening at T-Mobile Park, where clear skies and a game-time temperature of 81 degrees are expected. Minnesota is scheduled to start Connor Prielipp (3-5). Seattle will counter with Logan Gilbert (8-6). The Mariners are 1.5-run favorites, and the over/under is 8. The Twins won Friday’s opener 5-3, evening the season series at 2-2. Zebby Matthews earned the win for Minnesota, allowing three earned runs on four hits over five innings while striking out 10. Kody Funderburk and Yoendrys Gomez combined for 2 1/3 scoreless innings of relief. Matthews was also sharp in a losing effort July 24 against the Athletics, pitching six innings and allowing only two earned runs. His roughest start came July 19 at the Chicago Cubs, when he lasted three innings and gave up eight earned runs. Seattle’s Bryce Miller took the loss Friday despite allowing just two earned runs on three hits in 5 1/3 innings. He has lost his last four decisions. In his previous three starts, Miller allowed five earned runs in 5 1/3 innings at Texas on July 24, two earned runs in 5 2/3 innings against San Francisco on July 17, and four earned runs in five innings at Miami on July 9. Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh went 1 for 3 with two RBIs in Friday’s game. Eduard Bazardo gave up one earned run in 1 2/3 innings. Prielipp will look for his fourth victory, while Gilbert will seek his ninth. The series concludes Sunday at T-Mobile Park. Minnesota then travels to Kansas City for a three-game series beginning Tuesday. Seattle opens a six-game homestand Tuesday against Detroit, with Tampa Bay arriving later in the week.
