CLEVELAND (Interstat) — The Arizona Diamondbacks will try to make it two straight Saturday when they face the Cleveland Guardians at Progressive Field in the middle game of a three-game series. Arizona (58-52) took the opener 4-1 on Friday. Mitch Bratt, a player to watch for the Diamondbacks, earned the win, allowing one earned run and three hits over five innings with two strikeouts. Arizona has won three in a row, including a 3-0 win at Pittsburgh on Wednesday. Cleveland (56-55) has lost five of seven. Tanner Bibee, a player to watch for the Guardians, took the loss Friday despite a strong outing. Bibee allowed two earned runs and three hits in 7 1/3 innings, striking out three, but Cleveland managed only one run. Saturday’s pitching matchup has Arizona’s Parker Messick (8-6) scheduled to start against Cleveland’s Kohl Drake (0-0). The forecast calls for 78 degrees with clouds at game time. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 6-4 Arizona win, while Interstat’s ELO system gives Cleveland a 51.9 percent win probability. Cleveland has been installed as a 1.5-run favorite, and the over/under is 8. The Diamondbacks can win the series with a victory Saturday. The teams close the series Sunday at Progressive Field, then Arizona hosts San Diego on Monday, and Cleveland opens a homestand against the New York Mets on Tuesday.
