BASEBALL PREVIEW: Mariners at Dodgers LOS ANGELES (Interstat) — The Seattle Mariners try to even their series against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Thursday night at Dodger Stadium. Seattle (53-55) defeated the Dodgers 7-6 on Tuesday to open the four-game set. The teams played to a scoreless tie Wednesday — the most recent of the 196 games in their all-time series. The Dodgers (67-40) enter with the NL’s second-best record but have dropped two of three. Los Angeles fell 8-3 Sunday at the New York Mets before returning home. Seattle’s Dominic Canzone has been a driving force during the Mariners’ recent West Coast trip. The right fielder is batting .333 (9-for-27) with three home runs, nine RBIs and five runs scored over his past eight games. Canzone went 2-for-4 with two homers and three RBIs in Tuesday’s win over the Dodgers. Los Angeles’ Shohei Ohtani continues to produce from the designated hitter spot. The two-way star is 10-for-39 (.256) with one homer and seven RBIs in his past 10 games. Ohtani homered and drove in three runs Tuesday against the Mariners. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 6-4 Los Angeles victory. The Dodgers are listed as -1.5 run-line favorites. The over/under is 8½ runs. Seattle’s Julio Rodríguez contributed two hits, including a home run and an RBI, in Tuesday’s win. Rob Refsnyder added a homer and two RBIs for the Mariners. Los Angeles sent Justin Wrobleski to the mound Tuesday. He allowed five earned runs on seven hits over six innings with seven strikeouts. The Mariners open a six-game homestand Friday against the Minnesota Twins. The Dodgers host the Boston Red Sox starting Friday. Seattle managed just one win during a six-game road trip through Texas and Los Angeles prior to Tuesday’s victory. The Mariners have lost seven of their past 10.
