Chicago (55-51), which has lost three straight, sits 4 1/2 games behind first-place Cleveland in the AL Central. Right-hander Gerrit Cole (7-5, 3.12 ERA) starts for the Yankees. Kay has been inconsistent recently, going 2-2 with a 4.67 ERA over his past five outings. The Yankees’ offense has been productive in the series, scoring 16 runs on 28 hits. Outfielder Max Schuemann drove in two runs Tuesday, and reliever Angel Chivilli has not allowed a run in his past three appearances.
