Rhett Lowder, who will be available out of the bullpen, earned the win in that game, allowing two runs on one hit over five innings with four strikeouts. The right-hander has been inconsistent this month, posting a 6.75 ERA over his last six appearances. Third baseman Eugenio Suarez drove in two runs Friday, including a solo home run, and is batting .275 with 18 home runs this season. May, who took the loss Friday, worked six innings and allowed one run on seven hits with eight strikeouts. The right-hander has been plagued by poor run support, receiving two runs or fewer in five of his last six starts. Over his last three outings, May has a 1.80 ERA but has gone 0-3. Third baseman Blaze Jordan drove in both St. Louis runs in Friday’s loss and is hitting .290 with 12 home runs. The Cardinals have won four of the seven meetings this season, including a 1-0 victory Saturday. St. Louis leads the season series 4-3. St. Louis is listed as a -1.5 run-line favorite, according to Interstat. The over/under is 8.5. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 6-3 victory for Cincinnati. Following Sunday’s game, the Reds return home for a six-game homestand against Cleveland and Pittsburgh. The Cardinals open a four-game series against the Chicago Cubs on Monday.
