PHILADELPHIA (Interstat) — The Los Angeles Dodgers visit the Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday night at Citizens Bank Park, with first pitch set for 7:05 p.m. EDT under clear skies and 82-degree temperatures. The National League West-leading Dodgers (63-37) will send left-hander Eric Lauer (4-5, 4.12 ERA) to the mound. Lauer is coming off a no-decision against the New York Yankees on July 15, when he allowed three runs over 5 1/3 innings in a 5-4 loss. He has not faced the Phillies this season. Philadelphia (55-45), second in the NL East, counters with right-hander Zack Wheeler (10-1, 2.89 ERA), who has been one of baseball’s most dominant starters. Wheeler won his last outing July 16, tossing seven shutout innings with nine strikeouts in a 6-1 victory over the New York Mets. He is 2-0 with a 1.80 ERA in two starts against the Dodgers this season. The Phillies won the series opener Monday, 4-1, behind six strong innings from Aaron Nola and home runs from Bryce Harper and Nick Castellanos. The victory evened the season series at 2-2, with all four games decided by at least two runs. Players to Watch Dodgers reliever Brock Stewart has been effective out of the bullpen, posting a 1.69 ERA over his last eight appearances. He tossed two scoreless innings with two strikeouts Sunday in a 2-1 loss at Yankee Stadium, and has not allowed an earned run in seven of his last eight outings. Phillies reliever Max Lazar has struggled recently, allowing three earned runs in one inning against Detroit on July 10. He has given up runs in two of his last three appearances, though he did work 1 2/3 scoreless innings Sunday in a 6-1 loss to the Mets. Recent Trends The Dodgers dropped two of three to the Yankees over the weekend, including Sunday’s 2-1 defeat, after taking the first two games of the series. Los Angeles has lost four of its last six overall. The Phillies split a four-game series with the Mets, winning Saturday 6-1 before falling 6-1 on Sunday. Philadelphia has won three of its past five home games. Projections Interstat’s game simulator projects a 5-4 Phillies victory. Philadelphia is a -1.5 run favorite, and the over/under is set at 8.5 runs. Upcoming Following Tuesday’s game, the teams meet again Wednesday afternoon before the Dodgers travel to New York for a three-game series against the Mets starting Friday. The Phillies host the Yankees for a three-game set beginning Friday.
