BOSTON (Interstat) — The Boston Red Sox and Baltimore Orioles will renew their AL East rivalry Tuesday night at Fenway Park, with both teams seeking to gain ground in a tightly bunched division race. Right-hander Kyle Bradish (6-9) is scheduled to start for Baltimore, which enters play at 49-51. The Orioles have won three straight, including a 5-2 victory Sunday at Houston. Right-hander Sonny Gray will oppose him for Boston (50-48), which has won five consecutive games. First pitch is set for 7:10 p.m. EDT. The forecast calls for 73 degrees and cloudy skies. Bradish will look to rebound from a difficult stretch, though he has received limited run support. The right-hander has allowed three earned runs or more in three of his past four outings. Boston’s Gray has been dominant of late, winning his past five decisions. In his last five starts, he has surrendered just three earned runs over 29 1/3 innings, striking out 35. He is scheduled to face the Orioles for the first time this season. Baltimore’s Brandon Young has been a bright spot for the Orioles. Over his past four starts, the right-hander is 3-1 with a 3.00 ERA, including a win Sunday at Houston in which he allowed one run over seven innings with seven strikeouts. Boston took the series opener Monday, 3-1, behind a strong start from Kutter Crawford. The Red Sox have won four of the past six meetings between the clubs this season. The Orioles took two of three from Boston in a June series at Fenway, but the Red Sox enter this matchup riding momentum, having swept a four-game set with Tampa Bay over the weekend. Tuesday’s game is the second of a three-game series. Baltimore will send Kyle Bradish to the mound looking to even the set before the teams conclude the series Wednesday. Both clubs are navigating a critical stretch as the July 31 trade deadline approaches, with the Orioles seeking to climb back to .500 and Boston aiming to solidify its position in the wild-card race.
