MLB Preview: Marlins at Astros HOUSTON (Interstat) — The Miami Marlins visit the Houston Astros on Monday at Daikin Park, opening a three-game series between two clubs trying to reverse recent slides. First pitch is set for 8:10 p.m. ET. The Marlins (52-48) dropped the final three games of a weekend series at Milwaukee, including a 3-1 loss Sunday. Miami has lost seven of its last 10 games. The Astros (47-54) have lost four straight after a 5-2 defeat Sunday against Baltimore. Houston has dropped seven of its last nine. Miami right-hander Eury Pérez is scheduled to start. The 23-year-old has been sharp despite a lack of run support. In his last five outings, Pérez has allowed three earned runs over 29 innings with 32 strikeouts. He threw six scoreless innings of one-hit ball with nine strikeouts in a loss Sunday at Milwaukee. Over his previous two starts, he worked 13 innings with two earned runs allowed and 14 strikeouts. Houston counters with right-hander Kai-Wei Teng. The 27-year-old has struggled in limited work. In his last appearance Sunday against Baltimore, he allowed no runs on one hit over 2⅓ innings with three strikeouts in a loss. Prior to that, Teng had not pitched since June 27, when he allowed four earned runs on eight hits over 3⅔ innings in a win at Detroit. The Astros have been installed as pregame favorites at minus-1.5 on the run line. The over/under is 9 runs. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 5-4 victory for Miami. The Marlins will look to snap a three-game skid. After a 6-8 loss Saturday in Milwaukee, Miami’s bullpen allowed two runs over the final two innings Sunday before the offense managed just one run on six hits. Houston’s offense has been muted during its losing streak, scoring five runs total over the last three games. The Astros managed four hits Sunday. Jose Altuve drove in the team’s lone run with a home run. Following Monday’s game, the teams meet again Tuesday and Wednesday at Daikin Park before the Marlins return home to face San Diego and Houston travels to Chicago to face the White Sox.
