PREVIEW: Dodgers at Phillies PHILADELPHIA (Interstat) — The Los Angeles Dodgers, owners of the best record in the National League, open a three-game series against the Philadelphia Phillies on Monday night at Citizens Bank Park. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. under clear skies with a temperature of 76 degrees. The Dodgers (64-36) enter on a high after sweeping a two-game set at Yankee Stadium, capped by a 8-2 victory Saturday. Right-hander Yoshinobu Yamamoto tossed a complete game in that win, allowing two earned runs on four hits with seven strikeouts. Yamamoto (7-3) will start Monday and has been dominant in four of his last five outings, including a seven-inning, 10-strikeout shutout of San Diego on July 4. Philadelphia (55-45) stumbled Sunday, losing 6-1 to the New York Mets. The Phillies have dropped four of their last six and sit second in the NL East, 4½ games behind Atlanta. On the mound for the Phillies will be right-hander Max Lazar. The 26-year-old has struggled recently, allowing three earned runs in a combined 1 2/3 innings over his last two appearances, both losses. Lazar last threw July 19, giving up one hit in 1 2/3 scoreless frames but taking a loss. The Dodgers have owned the season series, winning two of three in Los Angeles from May 29-31. In the most recent meeting, Los Angeles routed Philadelphia 9-1. The Phillies’ lone win came 4-3 on May 30. A simulation from Interstat projects a 6-5 Dodgers victory. Philadelphia is favored by 1.5 runs on the betting line, and the over/under is set at 8. Yamamoto will look to continue his rebound after a rare rough start July 11, when he allowed six earned runs in six innings in a loss to Arizona. The Dodgers have won 10 of their last 14 overall. Lazar, making his fifth appearance, has a 4.91 ERA in 11 innings this season. He has not pitched more than two innings in any outing. The series continues Tuesday and Wednesday before both teams head on the road. The Dodgers travel to New York for three games against the Mets, then return home to host Seattle. The Phillies host the Yankees for three games, then visit Miami for three more.
