MLB Preview: Dodgers at Yankees NEW YORK (Interstat) — The Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees renew their interleague rivalry Saturday at Yankee Stadium II, with first pitch set for 7:05 p.m. EDT. The Dodgers (61-36) bring baseball’s best record into the matchup, but they arrive having dropped three straight games to Arizona at home, including a 5-3 loss Sunday. New York (54-42) has won four consecutive games, most recently a 5-3 victory Sunday at Washington. Right-hander Emmet Sheehan is scheduled to start for Los Angeles. Sheehan (0-1, 4.50 ERA in four June/July starts) has posted quality outings in three of his last four appearances, including 5 1/3 innings of one-run ball with seven strikeouts July 12 against Arizona. His lone rough spot came June 21 against Baltimore, when he allowed six earned runs in 3 1/3 innings. The Yankees counter with right-hander Will Warren. Warren (1-1, 4.91 ERA over his last five starts) turned in his best performance of the month July 12 at Washington, allowing one earned run on four hits over five innings with two strikeouts. He has been inconsistent, however, surrendering six earned runs in four innings July 7 at Tampa Bay. The teams played a tight game Friday, with New York winning 1-0. The Yankees’ pitching staff has held the Dodgers to one run over the first two games of this series. Los Angeles enters as a -1.5 pregame favorite, according to betting lines. The over/under is set at 9 runs. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 6-5 Yankees victory. After Saturday’s game, the teams close the series Sunday. The Dodgers then begin a seven-game road trip Monday at Philadelphia, followed by three games at the New York Mets. The Yankees host Pittsburgh for three games starting Monday, then travel to Philadelphia for a weekend series.
