The Dodgers (61-36) bring baseball’s best record into the matchup, but they arrive having dropped three straight games to Arizona at home, including a 5-3 loss Sunday. New York (54-42) has won four consecutive games, most recently a 5-3 victory Sunday at Washington. Right-hander Emmet Sheehan is scheduled to start for Los Angeles. He has been inconsistent, however, surrendering six earned runs in four innings July 7 at Tampa Bay. The teams played a tight game Friday, with New York winning 1-0. The Yankees’ pitching staff has held the Dodgers to one run over the first two games of this series. Los Angeles enters as a -1.5 pregame favorite, according to betting lines. The over/under is set at 9 runs. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 6-5 Yankees victory. After Saturday’s game, the teams close the series Sunday. The Dodgers then begin a seven-game road trip Monday at Philadelphia, followed by three games at the New York Mets. The Yankees host Pittsburgh for three games starting Monday, then travel to Philadelphia for a weekend series.
