Reds at Rockies Preview DENVER (Interstat) — The Cincinnati Reds and Colorado Rockies continue their three-game series at Coors Field on Saturday afternoon, with first pitch set for 92 degrees under clear skies. Cincinnati (43-52) sends right-hander Rhett Lowder (3-6) to the mound. Lowder has struggled in recent outings, lasting two innings or fewer in three of his past four appearances. In his most recent start July 12, he threw two scoreless innings but exited early in a 8-4 loss to the Chicago Cubs after a lengthy delay. He has allowed 13 earned runs over his past 12 1/3 innings. The Reds have lost five of their last seven games and rank near the bottom of the National League Central. Their offense has been inconsistent, scoring three runs or fewer in four of their last six contests. Cincinnati enters the day with the second-worst record in the division, ahead of only the Rockies. Colorado (39-59) will counter with right-hander Michael Lorenzen, who is 3-3 with a 4.60 ERA over his past five starts. The 34-year-old has been Colorado’s most reliable arm, earning wins in three of his last four outings despite allowing nine earned runs over 21 innings in that span. He allowed one run over five innings in a 3-1 loss at San Francisco on July 12. The Rockies have dropped four of their last five and remain in last place in the NL West. They are 20-30 at home, where Coors Field has historically boosted offensive output. In their last meeting, Friday’s series opener ended in a 0-0 score, likely due to weather or scheduling adjustments. The Reds took two of three from Colorado in Cincinnati in late April, including a 7-2 win on April 28 and a 6-4 decision on April 30. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 5-4 Reds victory. Saturday’s game is the second of a four-game wraparound series. The Reds are off Monday before traveling to Seattle. The Rockies will host Washington on Monday.
