CHICAGO (Interstat) — The Chicago White Sox aim to extend their winning streak against the Oakland Athletics on Sunday afternoon at Guaranteed Rate Field, where first pitch is set under partly cloudy skies and 80-degree temperatures. The White Sox (49-45) have won four of five meetings with the Athletics (41-54) this season, including a 1-0 victory Saturday and a 14-1 rout Friday. Chicago’s pitching has dominated, holding Oakland to one run over the past two games. White Sox right-hander Erick Fedde has been a key contributor. Over his last six outings, Fedde is 4-2 with a 2.27 ERA, striking out 20 in 25 2/3 innings. On Saturday, he threw four scoreless innings of two-hit ball, walking none and striking out three. His 1-0 win against the Athletics marked his third straight victory. For Oakland, left-hander Gage Jump is a player to watch despite recent struggles. Jump allowed one earned run in 5 2/3 innings Saturday but has yielded 11 earned runs over his past two starts, spanning 7 2/3 innings. He has a 4.18 ERA over his last five appearances, with 29 strikeouts in 25 1/3 innings. The Athletics have lost nine of their last 10 games, including eight straight on the road. Their offense has produced two runs or fewer in seven of those contests. Chicago, meanwhile, has won six of its last eight games and is 26-19 at home. According to Interstat, the game simulator projects a 4-1 White Sox victory. Despite Oakland’s record, the Athletics are listed as a -1.5 spread favorite in pregame betting lines. The over/under is set at 8.5 runs. The series concludes Sunday before both teams head out on the road. Chicago travels to Toronto for a three-game set starting July 17, while Oakland returns home to face Washington the same day.
