AP Sports Preview BALTIMORE (Interstat) — The Baltimore Orioles (44-51) host the Kansas City Royals (38-57) in the finale of a three-game series Sunday afternoon at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. First pitch is scheduled for 1:35 p.m. EDT with rain in the forecast and temperatures near 86 degrees. Baltimore has won four of five meetings against Kansas City this season, including a 4-0 shutout Saturday and a 5-3 victory Friday. The Orioles are seeking their third straight win in the series and a sweep before heading to Houston for a seven-game road trip. Right-hander Luinder Avila (4-5, 4.20 ERA) is scheduled to start for Kansas City. In his most recent outing Friday at Baltimore, Avila took the loss after allowing three earned runs on seven hits over five innings with three strikeouts. He is 4-1 over his last five starts, including wins against Philadelphia, the Chicago White Sox, Tampa Bay and Washington. Right-hander Brandon Young (6-4, 3.55 ERA) gets the ball for Baltimore. Young earned the win Friday against the Royals, throwing seven innings of three-run ball with eight hits allowed and five strikeouts. He has won three of his last four starts, with the lone loss coming against Washington on June 27. The Orioles’ offense has been productive in the series. Designated hitter Samuel Basallo homered and drove in two runs Friday. Right fielder Jac Caglianone and left fielder Isaac Collins each homered for Kansas City in that game. Baltimore is 24-23 at home this season. Kansas City is 16-33 on the road. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 5-3 Baltimore victory. The Orioles are a -1.5 favorite. The over/under is 9.5 runs. Baltimore opens a three-game series at Houston on Friday. Kansas City returns home to face San Diego on Friday.
