NEW YORK (Interstat) — The Boston Red Sox look to sweep a four-game series against the New York Mets on Sunday, when the teams are scheduled to play a split doubleheader at Citi Field. First pitch for the afternoon game is set for 1:10 p.m., with the nightcap to follow at 7:10 p.m. The forecast calls for 80-degree temperatures and rain. Boston (45-48) has won the first two games of the series by a combined 10-2, including a 4-0 shutout Saturday. The Red Sox have won seven of their past eight games. New York (40-56) has lost six of its last seven. Right-hander Eduardo Rivera is a key figure out of the Boston bullpen. He worked 3 2/3 scoreless innings of one-hit relief in Saturday’s win, striking out three. First baseman Andruw Monasterio homered and drove in two runs in that game, and designated hitter Masataka Yoshida also homered. For the Mets, right-hander Freddy Peralta has been erratic. He allowed two earned runs in 4 1/3 innings in a loss to Boston on Saturday, but his recent work has featured dramatic swings: He gave up 10 earned runs in 2 2/3 innings June 20 at Philadelphia, then threw 5 2/3 scoreless innings June 25 against the Chicago Cubs. Over his past six starts, his ERA is 6.75. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 7-5 Boston victory. The Red Sox return home July 17 to begin a 10-game homestand against Tampa Bay, Baltimore and Toronto. The Mets start a road trip Friday at Philadelphia, followed by a three-game series at Milwaukee.
